Rose Sculpting Course with 'Niff' Jenny Barnes at Heale Gardens 10th November 2026
Rose Sculpting Course with 'Niff' Jenny Barnes at Heale Gardens 10th November 2026
During this one day course, Jenny will demonstrate how to train your roses in wonderfully new and inventive ways. Her methods of creating architectural, sculptural shapes or 'living art' with roses, see her manipulating the stems into a network of spirals and connecting circles, to create striking 3D, freestanding sculptures, as well as 2D artwork on walls and frames.
Jenny began her Rose pruning adventures at Asthall Manor, under the direction of Mark Edwards, (then head gardener), who had developed an unusual and innovative pruning method.
Although influenced and inspired by Mark, Jenny continued to develop his style of pruning whilst working as head gardener in several renowned gardens, including Daylesford house and most recently at Cottesbrooke Hall.
Niff is now best known for her crisp, minimal, organic shapes, which add interest to any garden through the winter months, whilst also encouraging optimal health and bountiful flowering throughout the summer.
Jenny will talk about the theory behind her techniques and style, as well as sharing her hints and tips both for pruning, general rose health and year round care.
The course will run from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Tuesday 10th November at Heale House.
Included: Tea, coffee, and homemade biscuits on arrival. A light lunch, and then tea and cake upon finishing.
Pricing: £200 for the day.
